Best Marijuana Strains for Dealing With Migraines

Have you ever had a migraine before? If not, you probably are not able to actually understand just how painful they can be. No, migraines are not just like ordinary headaches that everyone can get from time to time. Migraine headaches are a whole different type of pain that causes severe distress and other symptoms.

Some people can experience migraines maybe once or twice a month at the most, other patients suffer chronically from them and can get migraines one or two times a week. When a migraine hits, you are basically down for the count. Not only is the pain in your head splitting, but migraines are notorious for causing other physical symptoms like nausea, vision problems, and more. It is not totally known what actually triggers a migraine in the brain, but each person that deals with migraines has their own unique set of triggers.

For me, migraines are normally started by a combination of poor sleep, lack of food, and dehydration. Since I have been able to identify these triggers, I know how to better avoid migraines occurring from time to time. However, if you are not aware what can trigger migraines for you, then you may have trouble preventing and deterring them. Most people with migraines will tell you that over the counter medication is usually not effective at treating migraines. Instead, the best “medicine” is usually just to lie down in bed in a dark room and try to fall asleep.

The pain can really be so intense that it stops one from doing any sort of task or responsibility for that period of time. However, have you ever considered using cannabis to treat migraines? Recent studies have suggested that using marijuana may be an effective way to treat migraines before they fully set in, allowing medical patients to find some relief from the pain before it becomes too much.

Today I wanted to write about some of the best strains of cannabis to use for treating migraines. Any doctor, medical professional, or pothead will tell you that each cannabis strain is different in its own way. It is important to know the effects of a marijuana strain before you actually try to smoke it. However, there are certain strains that medical marijuana users have begun to rely on to treat migraines and other severe pain conditions, and I want to tell you about them now.

The first strain that you should know about is called OG Kush. If you have been around the weed community for any serious amount of time, you have likely heard of this strain before. OG Kush is one of the most well known and widely used strains, and you can pretty much find it at any dispnesary near you. This strain is extremely effective for treating chronic pain and migraines due to its high THC content that will knock you on your butt in no time. The THC in OG Kush will help you to manage your pain on the front end, and the high CBD content it contains will help to reduce levels of pain over a longer period of time.

Another great strain for relieving pain from migraines is called Harlequin. This strain, while it is much harder to find than something like OG Kush, is a great option if you are looking for a strain that will be an effective pain reliever but won’t send you up into the atmosphere. The THC content is relatively low enough to prevent you from getting too high, but combined with the higher CBD potency, this strain will allow you to manage your pain symptoms before it gets too out of control.
